Earth Writers Are Easy

I had submitted my essay, 'War Stories,' for the Muslim Women Redefine War anthology on time. Then I waited. And waited. But not for long. Not like when you send something off into the great, black hole of publishing. Never to be heard from again.

I just got my first edits back. Just four things to change. No big deal.

But I am reminded again of what fragile egoes writers have. And how easy we are. All I need is an editor to say some nice things about my writing and I am ecstatic, over the moon. I am worthy! I am worthy! No, really, you don't even have to pay me.

And this is what the editor said in her email:

Thank you so much for your essay. Honestly i am moved to tears and my throat is feels like it's going to rip through the feelings it has created-- a rock with sharp edges. I really love your voice, the way you tell a story.

Which writer can resist that? So, I am reading it over and over again and putting it in my blog....the modern equivalent of shouting it from the rooftops.

Will keep this blog updated. Btw, everyone should check out Seal Press's site. They do some really interesting books.

Yaay!
